Mountain House dehydrated food roots trace back to meals made for the United States Military almost 50 years ago.

During the Vietnam War, the DOD wanted dehydrated food that tasted better and lasted longer than the old K and C rations given to American soldiers. The parent company is Oregon Freeze Dry “OFG” Mountain House won the US Military contract for dehydrated foods. Mountain House immediately started making freeze dried food / dehydrated food for America’s fighting men. Mountain House has continued to make dehydrated food for America’s Special Forces and other branches of the US military ever since.
